I have updated the server to 1.8 official, if you are using the prerelease or not, minecraft will still autoupdate to the new version automatically.

Minecrat 1.8 Prerelease bugs
The 1.8 prerelease is sure acting like a prerelease of a beta version would act. It likes to crash alot, especially when Travis plays, who knows maybe hes cursed. Anywho, the actual release (with rumored to be less bugs) is supposed to be on its way very soon. In fact it was supposed to be out today, the version we are currently playing (once again rumored) is supposed to be the version shown at PAX.
Tomorrow, regardless of official update or not, I am going to put up the old map, in the last official version of minecraft, which is 1.7 something or other. This is mostly due to stability and that when I put a copy of the old map on the prerelease it got really wiggy and buggy.
After that I will update the server as usual when new official versions are released.
This was a fun and interesting detour though, but I guess tomorrow its back to business.

Minecraft 1.8 Pre-Release
Minecraft 1.8 has been semiofficially been pre-released.
You can download the .jar here
Put that .jar in the .Minecraft/bin folder
Probably would be a good idea to back up the original first.
I am going to attempt to update the server to the "pre-release" version. But to prevent errors that may occur in not using an "official" version I am saving the originals to a separate place as a back-up.
Just tried it, the old map was kind of buggy, and I figure since its a limited time thing and we are trying a "test" version, we will use a new World for a few days for fun. Just a quick vacation from our normal world guys. Don't stress.

New Village
So I realized we haven't had a group project in a while. So I am starting a new one today. A new village project. Portals to the Nether work very strange right now, but we can enter and exit regularly. I have built a bridge and pathway from Travis' well built entrance shack to a nice open and exposed location for building our next group village.
Beware this project is only for the manliest of men. Men who love to be furious as they build their houses, and do not mind 24/7 explosion dodging action.
Remember the following
Ghast's will not attack unless they have line of sight.
Ghast's sight is limited to any solid object including glass.
The following blocks are resistant to blasts:
Brick
Cobble Stone
Stone
Diamond Blocks
Gold Blocks
Iron Blocks
Also variations of stone and cobble like stairs also share the same blast resistance.

Wizards Curse should be halted
There should be no more creeping cold. But areas that have been infected may continue to be a cold biome. Some areas will revert if you remove the snow.
